Returning Individual Leaders LAST TIME

Dakota Wesleyan held on at home against Dakota State in its season opener on Saturday, August 30.  The win wasn't secured until Dakota State missed its second field goal of the game with under a minute remaining from 18 yards.
 
Wesleyan's scores came on a 95 yard kick return to open the game, a touchdown near the end of the first quarter to cap a five play-23 yard drive and a 40 yard Danny Carsrud field goal with 8:47 left in the game that was the eventual game winner.
 
This is Dordt's season opener after posting an 8-2 record last season.
 
THE SERIES

Dordt trails the series 9-7 and has won seven games in a row dating back to 2017.
 
The Defenders outgained Wesleyan 286-56 on the ground and 424-212 overall in a 42-7 win last season.  Kolson Kruse passed for 138 yards and two touchdowns and Daniel Dickerson and Nick Wellen ran for 122 and 77 yards each.  Eliot Beal caught four passes for 100 yards and a score.  The Tigers were led by Carter Robinson with a 16-24 passing day and 156 yards and he ran for 30 yards on 13 carries.  Dordt led 21-0 after one quarter and was up 28-7 at halftime.
