The Dordt Defender hockey team lost its season opener at Forest City, Iowa against Waldorf in non-conference play Saturday night, September 6. 

The Defenders were up 2-1 after the first period and gave up an uncharacteristic four goals in the second period while scoring one in falling 5-3.
