The Dordt University women's basketball team built an early cushion and never trailed on the way to a 72–56 victory over Concordia (Neb.) on Saturday. Dordt set the tone in the opening quarter, using efficient offense and a double-digit lead to take early control.

Dordt scored on six of its first eight possessions to jump out to an early 13–7 advantage, highlighted by a three-pointer from
Willow Bleeker and interior finishes from
Gracie Schoonhoven. After Concordia briefly cut the margin to six, the Defenders answered with a 13–2 run over the final four minutes of the first quarter. Schoonhoven scored nine points in the period, including a pair of layups off offensive rebounds, as Dordt took a 26–11 lead into the second quarter. Concordia trimmed the deficit to 32–21 midway through the second, but Dordt responded with another spurt, sparked by a Schoonhoven three and transition buckets from
Macy Sievers, to carry a 42–25 advantage into halftime.
The Bulldogs opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to cut the lead to 42–28, but Dordt quickly steadied itself. Schoonhoven scored on consecutive possessions inside, and Kristin Vieselmeyer added a three during an 8–2 Dordt stretch that pushed the margin back to 16. Concordia continued to battle in the fourth quarter, pulling within 56–45, but Dordt answered again. A Schoonhoven layup followed by a Sievers steal and lay up and another Schoonhoven basket, capped a decisive run that restored a comfortable cushion. Dordt closed the game out at the free-throw line.
