(Thursday, February 19; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its basketball players of the week, and Dordt's Macy Sievers (Senior; Storm Lake, Iowa) has earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Sievers averaged a double-double last week in points and assists and recorded her third triple-double of the season in a Wednesday, February 11 win over Briar Cliff. She followed that performance with 15 points and eight assists against Midland on Saturday. Sievers scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and 15 assists against Briar Cliff and averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 assists, and 6.5 rebounds for the week while converting 15-of-30 field goals and four three-point shots.
She followed those two games with a career-high 27 points against Dakota Wesleyan on February 18 as the Defenders clinched their fourth straight regular season GPAC title. She also had five rebounds and six assists in that contest, lifting her season scoring average to 16.0 points per game with 7.8 rebounds and 9.2 assists.
Dordt concludes the regular season on Saturday, February 21 at Forest City against Waldorf. The Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason tournament begins on Wednesday, February 25, and the Defenders will be the top seed in the eight-team field.
