Dordt opened its season with a doubleheader sweep of the Saint Mary (Kansas) Spires in Leavenworth, Kansas on Friday, February 6.  Dordt took the games by 4-3 and 10-2 margins and the teams will play again on Saturday, February 7.

Game 2: Dordt 4, Saint Mary 3
The Dordt Defenders opened the series with a 4–3 victory over Saint Mary, building an early lead and then holding off a late challenge. Dordt broke through in the third inning when Logan Templeton doubled to center, driving in Ryan Vann and Logan Harris for a 2–0 advantage.

Saint Mary answered with a run in the bottom half, but Dordt responded again in the fourth as Vann worked a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to 3–1. The Defenders added a key insurance run in the sixth when Vann doubled to right, scoring Harris.

Saint Mary made things interesting with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, trimming the margin to one, but Dordt's bullpen shut the door as Aaron Wood tossed 1.1 scoreless innings to secure the win.

Game 2: Dordt 10, Saint Mary 2
Dordt completed the doubleheader sweep with a 10–2 win over Saint Mary, using a six-run sixth inning to break the game open. After Saint Mary scored in the first, Dordt answered in the third as Ryan Vann singled home a run before Drew Oreskes followed with a two-run home run to give the Defenders a 3–1 lead.

Dordt added a run in the fourth and then erupted in the sixth, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Logan Harris as the Defenders sent 11 batters to the plate. Dordt's pitching staff combined to limit Saint Mary to five hits, striking out nine while allowing just two runs over seven innings.
