Box Score The Dordt Defenders used a second-half surge and multiple scoring runs to pull away from MidAmerica Nazarene for a 75-53 win on Thursday night at the Tyson Events Center, advancing to the NAIA National Championship quarterfinals for the third consecutive season.

Dordt set the tone early, scoring the first four points before MidAmerica Nazarene answered to tie the game at 4-4. The opening quarter featured six ties and six lead changes, with neither team able to gain separation. Dordt found a spark midway through the period as an
Aubrey Burkhart three-pointer ignited a 5-0 push to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 13-10 lead. After another tie at 15-15, Burkhart connected again from long range to help Dordt close the quarter on a 6-2 run and take an 18-17 edge.
MidAmerica Nazarene briefly reclaimed the lead early in the second quarter at 19-18, but that would prove to be its final advantage of the game. Dordt responded immediately with an 8-2 run fueled by interior scoring from
Desta Hoogendoorn to build a 26-21 lead. The Defenders continued to apply pressure, stretching the margin to 32-25 before taking a 32-27 lead into halftime.
The game shifted decisively in the third quarter as Dordt delivered its most impactful run of the night. Leading 34-30, the Defenders rattled off a 10-0 surge behind back-to-back baskets from
Macy Sievers and finishes inside by
Olivia Harazin and
Gracie Schoonhoven to push the lead to 44-30. MidAmerica Nazarene briefly cut the deficit to nine, but Dordt answered with another run, closing the quarter on a 11-2 stretch capped by a Sievers three-pointer and a Bleeker triple to take a commanding 55-42 lead into the final period.
Dordt removed any doubt in the fourth quarter, opening with a 12-2 run that extended the lead to 67-44. The Defenders continued to control the pace and executed efficiently down the stretch, eventually building a game-high 23-point advantage before closing out the 22-point victory.
The Defenders shot 41.9 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three-point range while holding MidAmerica Nazarene to just 32.2 percent shooting. Dordt also dominated the glass with a 49-31 rebounding edge and converted 15 points off turnovers.

With the win, Dordt improves to 32-2 overall and advances to the national quarterfinals for the third straight season. Dordt will face Saint Francis (Indiana) on Saturday, March 21 at 3pm. Saint Francis was a winner over Hastings on Thursday night in the final game of the day.
