(Wednesday, March 25; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Heart of America Athletic Conference has announced its weekly honors for men's volleyball and Dordt's Colt Schmidt (Sophomore; Palmdale, California) has been named the defensive player of the week for matches played March 17-23.

Schmidt averaged 4.58 digs per set as the Defenders went 3-0 in matches and also recorded two service aces with the Defenders improving to 20-7 overall and 10-5 in the conference with four matches remaining. Dordt's wins came against Graceland, Missouri Valley (no. 6) and Culver Stockton.

""Colt led our defensive effort once again in a solid week of individual performance as well as a collective effort of putting our blockers in strategic positions to be successful.  He is quick to cover so many areas of the court and is a rally-extender with how he plays the game.  What a wonderful honor for him and our program to be receiving the Defender of the Week," said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Schmidt is averaging 4.0 digs per set this season with 16 service aces.

Dordt will host Clarke and Mount Mercy (no. 4) this weekend before concluding the regular season with a pair of road matches the following week.
