Rilanna Newcomb, who currently attends and plays for Lynden High School (Wash.), has announced her intention to attend Dordt University and play for the women's soccer team.

  • Position: Midfielder
  • Honors / Highlights:
    • led team in assists and averaged nearly one assist per match
    • named team captain
    • helped lead Lynden High School to its first ever undefeated regular season
    • played for a team that won both the conference and district
    • was part of teams that won the state championship in both basketball and tennis
    • played seven years for the North County Alliance F.C. where she was named the team's most valuable player on offense

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
