The nightcap turned into an offensive marathon, with the two teams combining for 31 runs and 29 hits. While Dordt's bats remained red-hot, a six-run sixth inning for Mount Marty proved too much to overcome.
Dordt's scoring was paced by a relentless middle-inning push.
Stephen Dillender launched a solo home run in the fourth, and Jimmy Twombley added a sacrifice fly to keep the Defenders within striking distance. In the sixth, the Defenders exploded for six runs, highlighted by a bases-clearing three-run double from
Logan Harris, followed by RBI doubles from

Oreskes continued his monster day with a three-run home run in the seventh to bring the score to 16-12. Despite a late push in the eighth featuring a
Logan Templeton RBI and a run scored on a wild pitch, the Defenders couldn't quite close the gap.
