The Dordt University women's golf team went 1-1 on the first day of the Briar Cliff Match Play held at the Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa. The Defenders earned a 3-2, playoff win against Northwestern in their first match and then lost to Morningside 4-1.

vs Northwestern:

• Ollie Large earned a 1-up win against Leah Hunter on the second playoff hole to give the Defenders a 3-2 win against Northwestern. After both players bogeyed the par four 12th hole, Large recorded a three (par) on the 13th hole and Hunter carded a four (bogey). 
• Katherine Beekman earned a 3&1 win over Anna Brant, ending the match with a par 4 on the 10th hole. Beekman birdied the 15th and seventh holes and shot par on five holes
• Jillian Eidsness earned a 2&1 win over Claire Yunag, ending the match with a par on the 10th hole. Eidsness made eight pars in the opening round
• Ashlee Sweeter was defeated by Ellie Erickson 1-up; Sweeter made 10 pars in her round
• Hope Faber was defeated by Brooke Thompson 6&4; Faber made four pars in her round

vs Morningside: 

• Katherine Beekman earned the Defenders lone win with a 3&2 victory against Lucy Brown. Beekman was down by one early in the match (after seven holes) but took the lead for good with a par on 17, birdie on 18 and back-to-back pars on the holes 1 and 2. Beekman totaled eight pars and one birdie in her second round
• Ashlee Sweeter lost to Kamryn Zuniga 2up; Sweeter totaled 10 pars and one birdie in her second round
• Jillian Eidsness was defeated by Ivanna Becerra Diaz 4&2; Eidsness made eight pars in her round
• Hope Faber lost to Macy Button 5&3; Faber made four pars in her round
• Ollie Large lost to Alysen Sander 8&6; Large made three pars
