Men's Basketball | Four Defenders Picked For Postseason Honors

(Wednesday, March 4; Sioux Center, Iowa)  The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its men's basketball postseason honors, and four Dordt players have earned recognition in voting conducted by the conference coaches at the conclusion of the regular season.

Connor Millikan (Junior; Springfield, Nebraska) has been named to the All-GPAC First Team after leading the Defenders in scoring with an 18.2 points-per-game average. He also topped the team in assists at 4.1 per game while averaging 6.2 rebounds. Millikan converted 40 percent of his three-point attempts and 48 percent of his field goal tries while recording 1.3 steals per game. He was one of two players in the league to rank in the top 10 in points, rebounds, and assists per game. Millikan has scored 1,276 career points at Dordt and ranks 21st all-time in program history. He was an All-GPAC Honorable Mention selection as both a freshman and sophomore. His 529 points this season are the fourth-most by a junior in Dordt program history.

Ty Van Essen (Senior; Sheldon, Iowa) is an All-GPAC Second Team selection after averaging 14.9 points per game and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per contest. He narrowly missed joining the exclusive 40-50-90 club, shooting 43 percent from the three-point line, 56 percent from the field, and 89 percent from the free throw line. Van Essen led the team with 101 free throw attempts. It marks the first All-GPAC honor of his career, and he graduates with 778 career points.

Jake Proctor (Junior; Hesston, Kansas) earned honorable mention recognition after averaging 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He converted 41 percent of his three-point attempts and shot 49 percent from the field while starting all 29 games for the Defenders.

Judson Henkel (Freshman; Janesville, Wisconsin) also received honorable mention honors after averaging 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while converting 64 percent of his field goal attempts. Henkel, along with the other three Dordt honorees, started all 29 games for the Defenders. His 341 points this season rank 11th-most by a freshman in program history.

Dordt concluded the season with a 16-13 overall record and tied for fourth in the GPAC regular season standings with an 11-9 conference mark.
