(Friday, March 6; Sioux Center, Iowa) The ACHA Division III Hockey National Championship pool play assignments are public and the Dordt Defenders have learned their assignment for the event beginning Wednesday, March 18 in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Defenders will open their second straight National Tournament appearance against a familiar opponent in Nebraska-Omaha. The Mavericks are 30-5 this season and the two teams met for the MACHA Championship last week with Dordt prevailing 2-0 to earn an automatic berth to the National Tournament and Nebraska-Omaha was awarded an at-large berth. The teams will play at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at the Maryville University Hockey Center.
Dordt will then face Purdue (Indiana) on Thursday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the USA Arena-CCIC and the Defenders conclude pool play with a game against Calvin (Michigan) on Friday night at 8:15 p.m. at the Plager Arena-CCIC.
The tournament field consists of four, four-team pools with the champion of each pool advancing to the semifinal round. This is the fifth overall trip to the ACHA National Tournament for Dordt.
