The Dordt University women's golf team completed day one of the Kaitlyn Erickson Invite, a two-day, 36-hole meet hosted by Doane University.
The Defenders carded an opening round 378 and are in seventh place out of 13 teams, one stroke in back of Nebraska Wesleyan. The host team, Doane University, holds a 10-shot advantage and is the leader after day one with a 332, followed by Hastings with a 342. A second Doane team is third with a 348, followed by College of Saint Mary (360) and Mount Marty (363).Â
Dordt was led by the duo of
Ashlee Sweeter and
Jillian Eidsness who shot an 86 and 87, respectively. Sweeter carded a 47 on the front nine, 39 on the back, and sits in 10th place out of 71 golfers. Eidsness is in 14th place overall and shot a 42 on the back nine.Â
Hope Faber (46th - 101) and
Katherine Beekman (51st - 104) round out the Defenders scoring four and
Ollie Large carded a 108. Two Defenders,
Samantha Wilbur (32nd - 96) and
Laney Franken (44th - 100) played as individuals today.Â
Doane's Connie Jarm holds a two stroke lead over her Tigers teammate, Avery Van Horn, heading into tomorrow's final round. Jarm opened with an 80 while Van Horn shot an 82.Â

- this is the third meet of the spring season for the Defenders and they have one more tune-up prior to the GPAC Championship on April 27-28
