Men's Track and Field Athletic Communications Staff

Sprint Crew, Throwers Highlight Performances at Mount Marty Twilight

The Dordt University men's track and field team totaled 11 personal-bests and six all-time top performances in the hot, windy conditions today at the Mount Marty Twilight held at Williams Field in Yankton, S.D.

Notes:

  • Levi Schelhaas was the lone Defender to win an event, taking home the title in the 400m
    • the senior crossed the finish line in 48.90, nearly two seconds faster than the rest of the field
  • Jacob Schmoll finished fifth and was the second fastest NAIA runner in the 100m
    • Schmoll ran a personal-best time of 10.61, second fastest in program history
  • Ethan Miller gave the Defenders a pair of top five finishers in the 400m, joining Schelhaas in the field with a fourth place finish
  • Casey Heinrichs ran a great race and finished as the runner-up in the 800m
    • Heinrichs crossed the finish line in 1:57, trailing only Theo Moseman (Morningside), who won the race with a 1:55.46
  • the throws crew posted four all-time top 10 marks, two each by Derek Heynen and Thomas Peltzer
    • Heynen placed fifth in the shot put with the No.2 mark all-time at Dordt (15.50m)
    • the junior followed with a fifth place finish and personal mark in the shot put, third best in program history
    • Peltzer had personal-bests in both the shot put and hammer, ranking fourth and ninth respectively all-time at Dordt
  • Kaden Van Wyngarden and Bennett Visser both placed in the top five in the 1500m
  • Lawson Burkhart recorded his best career finish in the steeplechase, placing second with a time of 10:25, followed by Isaac Fagan in third place
  • Willem Den Hartog (pole vault) and Grant Busker (high jump) both finished as the runner-up in their respective event
  • Ben Gosselink was the top Defender finisher in the 5000m, placing third
