The Dordt Defender baseball team dropped both games of a GPAC doubleheader to Doane on Friday, falling 8-5 in the opener and 21-5 in game two. Dordt is now 20-28 overall and 10-18 in the GPAC. Dordt awaits the outcomes of the games on Saturday to determine if the Defenders will make the postseason field.

Doane scored twice in the second inning and added single runs in the sixth before breaking the game open with four runs in the seventh to take an 8-2 lead. Dordt answered in the sixth inning when Jarett Herz delivered a two-run double to score Stephen Dillender and Cameron Grimes and cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Defenders made a late push in the seventh. After a pair of baserunners reached, Drew Oreskes hit a three-run home run to right center to bring Dordt within 8-5, but Dordt was unable to get closer.
Dordt totaled six hits in the game with Logan Templeton and Jarett Herz each recording two hits. Oreskes drove in three runs with his home run and Herz added two RBIs on his double.

Doane seized control immediately with 10 runs in the first inning and added eight more in the third to build a commanding lead. Dordt got on the board in the first inning on a Logan Templeton solo home run to make it 10-1.
The Defenders added a run in the third when Jimmy Twombly scored on an error and plated two more in the fourth. Twombly singled to drive in Joey Schlesselman and later scored on a wild pitch. Drew Oreskes added a solo home run in the fifth to account for the final Dordt run.
Dordt finished with five hits in the game. Jimmy Twombly led the offense with two hits and an RBI while Templeton and Oreskes each homered.
