The opening set featured back-and-forth play with 11 ties and multiple lead changes. Dordt used a 4-1 push behind kills from Cade Schmidt and Cory Kuperus to build a 7-5 lead and later stretched the margin to 18-16 with a sustained run sparked by errors from Grand View and a balanced offensive attack. After Grand View rallied to tie the set at 21-21, Dordt answered with points from Nicodemus Elliott and a block by Lance Vermeer and Kai Chapman to go up 23-21. The Vikings responded with a late 5-1 run, closing the set with consecutive points after a 24-24 tie to claim the 26-24 win.

Grand View seized momentum early in the second set, using a 6-2 stretch to turn a 4-4 tie into a 10-6 advantage. Dordt chipped away with a 3-0 run keyed by a Bradley Neff service ace and a Kuperus kill to get within 14-13, but the Vikings answered immediately with a 5-1 run to push the lead to 19-14. Dordt was unable to recover as Grand View maintained separation down the stretch for the 25-19 decision.

The third set saw Dordt produce its strongest run of the night, turning a 5-5 tie into a 9-5 lead with four straight points, including a service ace and multiple attack errors forced by defensive pressure. The Defenders extended the lead to 16-13 after another short run fueled by Joel Van Groningen and Cade Schmidt. Grand View countered with a decisive 6-1 surge to flip the score from 19-18 Dordt to 24-20 Vikings. Dordt briefly answered with back-to-back points to get within 24-22, but Grand View closed the match on the next rally to secure the sweep.
