Box Score 2 The Dordt Defender softball team split two games on Thursday, April 30 at the GPAC Tournament and were eliminated from the tournament. Dordt started with a come from behind win over Concordia, securing a 6-4 decision and then won the second game 13-4. Dordt is now 39-12 and will await a potential at-large berth in the 48-team NAIA National Championship field announced on Wednesday, May 6.

Dordt secured a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Concordia on Wednesday to keep their tournament run alive. The Defenders overcame an early 2-0 deficit, eventually taking the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning. Despite a late surge by the Bulldogs that tied the game in the sixth, Dordt responded with two unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win.
The Defenders' offense was paced by
Chloe Kreuz, who went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs, including a key two-RBI single in the fourth.
Lauren Steenstra contributed an RBI double in the third to get Dordt on the board, while
Rylee Yager added a crucial RBI bunt single in the sixth. Kreuz also earned the win in the circle, pitching 4.1 innings before Yager entered to pick up the save, striking out three over the final 2.2 frames.

In the second game of the day, Dordt struggled to contain a potent Morningside offense, falling 13-4 in a six-inning contest. The Mustangs broke the game open with a six-run third inning and added four more in the fourth to pull away. While the Defenders managed a three-run rally in the fourth inning, they were unable to close the gap against a Morningside lineup that totaled 18 hits.
Annabelle Hensley led the Dordt offense with a two-RBI single in the fourth, while
Chloe Kreuz and
Lauren Steenstra each added an RBI.
Rylee Yager took the loss, allowing seven earned runs over 2.1 innings before
Abigail Tweedy finished the game in relief.
