The Dordt University women's track and field team put its finishing touch on the 2026 outdoor season with two more All-American performances on the final day of the NAIA Outdoor National Championship. The 3-day championship event was held at the Karl Straus Track in Asheville, N.C.
Getting the day started for the Defenders were
Fran Travis and
Makenna Walhof as the duo competed in the discus in the late morning hours. Walhof was one of nine throwers to advance to finals with a 44.65m toss on her first attempt. Walhof came close to bettering that mark on her second attempt of the finals (43.79m) but finished eighth overall with her mark in prelims. The junior is now a two-time All-American in the event (5th in 2025) and a four-time All-American overall for her career. Travis finished 19th overall with a mark of 37.16m / 121-11 and competed in her third event at the championship.Â
Addy Crow and
Macy Marshall both competed in the 3000m steeplechase after securing a spot among the 14-runner final on Wednesday. Crow, a returning All-American in the event, claimed the national honor once again with a seventh place finish and a season-best time of 11:02, nearly 10 seconds faster than her time in prelims. Marshall, competing at the outdoor championship for the first time, finished 11th overall with a time of 11:09, nearly five seconds faster than prelims.Â
Corinne Braun, running in her fourth race of the championships, finished 12th in the finals of the 1500m with a time of 4:48. Braun, who helped the Defenders to a fourth place finish and a program record time in the 4x800 finals last night, was competing in her sixth NAIA Championship (2 XC, 2 indoor, 2 outdoor).Â
Dordt closed the championship in a tie for 28th place with MidAmerica Nazarene at 11 points, fourth among GPAC teams (Concordia - T7th, Doane - 12th, Hastings - T16th). British Columbia won its fifth consecutive national title, totaling 101.5 points.
The Defenders finished with four All-American entries and seven All-Americans:
