The Dordt Defender women's golf team finished seventh at the Mount Marty Invite played Monday and Tuesday, August 24 and 25, in Yankton, South Dakota. The opening round was played at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, and Tuesday's final round was held at Fox Run Golf Course.

Dordt improved by 14 strokes in the final round and finished with a 350-336=686. The Defenders were two strokes behind Doane's second team in sixth place and three strokes behind Briar Cliff in fifth.

Dordt's first team played with four golfers on Tuesday.

Olivia Meyering led the Defenders with an 83-81=164 and finished ninth. Meyering recorded Dordt's best round of the tournament with an 81, shooting a two-over-par 38 on the front nine. She birdied the par-four second hole and par-five seventh hole.

Chloe Attema improved six strokes with a 42-40=82 and finished 23rd with a 170. Attema birdied the par-four second hole and par-five 10th hole.

Hope Faber improved seven strokes with a 42-42=84 and placed 28th at 175. Faber birdied the par-three 17th hole. Laney Franken made a nine-stroke improvement with a 45-44=89 and birdied the par-three eighth hole.

The Defenders recorded six birdies during the final round and totaled 167 on the front nine and 169 on the back.

Maggie Domeyer made Dordt's largest improvement between rounds, following a 106 with an 88 on Tuesday. Julia Van Groningen improved by 12 strokes with a second-round 95, and Avery Bunkers shot a 91-87=178 to finish 34th.

Morningside won the 13-team event with a 330-307=637 and finished 16 strokes ahead of Concordia. A total of 72 golfers completed both rounds.

Dakota Wesleyan's Allison Meyerink earned individual medalist honors with a 75-72=147 and finished seven strokes ahead of Morningside's Aidan Sander.

Dordt's second team placed 11th with a 399-371=770.

The Defenders return to competition September 8-9 at the Siouxland Invite. The opening round will be played at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, and the second round will be held at The Ridge in Sioux Center.
