COACHING BACKGROUND
Kenney was named the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach of the Defender football program in the Spring of 2022.
Coach Kenney has 13 years of coaching experience with 11 years at the college level. Kenney coached at Trinity International University (Illinois), and Sterling College (Kansas), Colorado Springs Christian School (Colorado).
Kenney comes to Dordt after the last six seasons coaching at Sterling College. During his six seasons, Sterling qualified for the NAIA playoffs in 2016 and 2017 and won the KCAC Conference Championship in 2017. Sterling finished in the top-25 three times during his tenure in 2016, 2017 and 2019 and was selected to play in the NCCAA Victory Bowl in 2021.
For the last two seasons Kenney was the defensive coordinator while coaching the inside linebackers for the Warriors. In his time as defensive coordinator, Sterling had one honorable mention all-American on defense and three first team all-conference selections.
Prior to being named the defensive coordinator at Sterling, Kenney served as the special teams coordinator, coached inside linebackers and defensive line and served as strength and conditioning coach. In 2016 Sterling had the top ranked kick return unit in the KCAC and a first team all-American kick returner and KCAC Special Teams Player of the Year.
Prior to Sterling, Kenney served for five seasons at Trinity International University. Kenney was the special teams coordinator for four seasons, and coached the defensive backs, and defensive line during his five total seasons there. While at Trinity, Kenney had the privilege of coaching a defensive back that went on to play in the NFL.
Prior to Trinity International, Kenney coached for two seasons at his high school alma mater, Colorado Springs Christian School. Kenney coached wide receivers and defensive backs, was the JV head coach, and strength and conditioning coach.

ATHLETIC BACKGROUND
Played middle/outside linebacker at the University of Northern Colorado (2004-08) and was a Big Sky Conference honorable mention pick twice and a team captain in 2007 and 2008. Competed in football, basketball, baseball, and track at Colorado Springs Christian School (Colorado).
