COACHING BACKGROUND
Tyler Knobloch completed his first full season with the Dordt Defenders as the running backs coach in 2021. The running back group produced two 2nd Team All-Conference RBs with Josh Bush and Anthony Trojahn. Tyler also serves the community as an Independent Insurance Agent at the Van Bruggen-Wesselink Insurance Agency in Sioux Center.
Before joining the insurance industry, Tyler Knobloch took over as the offensive coordinator for Northwestern College (2012-2015) after Joel Penner took a job at Malone University (Ohio). Tyler coached the Offensive Line for three seasons and the running backs for two seasons prior to that for the Red Raiders.
Knobloch served as the Red Raiders' offensive line coach on Penner’s staff during the 2009-2012 seasons. Under Knobloch’s direction, Northwestern's offensive line has been one of the NAIA's best boasting the seventh-best rushing attack (222.5 yards per game) while also allowing just 14 sacks in 11 games last season.
Knobloch lettered two years for Northwestern (2005, 2006) and was a football standout at West Lyon High School. After college, he taught middle school science and bible while coaching several sports at Sioux Center Christian School.
COACHING PHILOSOPHY
My main purpose in coaching is to build men in the sport of football through the lens of Christ. Teaching our athletes to maximize their gifts in a way that honors God, our team, our families, and our university. Football is a violent sport, and I want our athletes to compete fiercely and have ownership for their actions.
In the game of football, I want to put our athletes in the best position possible to be successful. I will develop them spiritually, physically, and to be mentally tough throughout their playing career to set them up for success in their years after Dordt. I want to be a positive influence and model what it means to be great husband, father, and believer in Christ.

Played Corner/OLB at Northwestern College (Iowa)
Played QB/FS at West Lyon High School (01-05), also played basketball, baseball, and ran track.
