Eric Bourdo

Hired in April 2022, Bourdo begins his third year as the Defenders' head coach and tenth overall season within the program. He served as an assistant in the program since the 2019 season (4 years) and played for the Defenders three years. Bourdo is the 10th head coach in the 44-year history of the Defenders program.

Education: 

  • M.A. - Sport Leadership from Dordt University, 2022
  • B. A. - Business Administration from Dordt University, 2019

Playing Career:

  • played a combined four years for Muskegon Community College (NJCAA) and Dordt University
  • began playing career with one year at Muskegon CC where he started 17 of 18 matches
  • played final three seasons at Dordt where he earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior
  • served as team captain during his senior season
  • earned first team all-state honors playing for Western Michigan Christian High School

Coaching Career:

  • 2023 - present: Head Coach, Dordt University
  • 2019 - 2022: Assistant Coach, Dordt University Men's Soccer
  • Muskegon Christian School

Licensure:

  • completed his USSF Class C License

Honors / Accolades: 

2023
  • guided the Defenders to the GPAC semifinals  
  • defeated unbeaten Concordia on the road in the GPAC quarterfinals  
  • five Defenders were named all-conference, including one first team selection (Kaleb Lee) 
  • school record 18 Defenders received NAIA Scholar Athlete recognition
  • one Defender (Kaleb Lee) was named CSC Academic All-American  
2024
  • Defenders qualified for the GPAC post-season tournament and finished sixth
  • five Defenders were named all-conference 
  • 14 players received NAIA Scholar Athlete Recognition
  • four athletes earned CSC Academic All-Distrct honors
