Volleyball Battles Rated Midland In Fremont

WHEN

Dordt will travel to Fremont, Nebraska to face Midland in GPAC volleyball on Saturday, October 15.  The junior varsity match will start at 1:30 and the varsity contest will start at about 3:00.

RECENTLY

Midland bounced back from a Friday night loss to Dakota Wesleyan on October 7 and beat Jamestown on the road on Saturday, October 8 in its most recent action. The Warriors had to go to five sets to turn away Jamestown and hand the Jimmies their first GPAC loss of the season in sets scores of 17-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 15-10. Addyson Mosier had 20 kills and Taliyah Flores had 15. Leimbach put up 55 assists and Delanie Vallinch got to 15 digs.  Kailyn Scott had three service aces in the win and gave up three service aces.
Dordt swept Briar Cliff 25-11, 25-17, 25-13 and had a kill efficiency of .375 while limiting Briar Cliff to negative attack numbers. Riley Doenhoefer had a team high 11 kills and Ellie Voss had 10. Sophie Johnson and Megan Raszler had 22 and 15 digs each with Raszler putting in four ace serves. Makenna Kooima got to 10 digs and Voss had six block assists.  

THE SERIES

The Defenders are 4-5 against Midland since the 2017 season and three of those matches have been decided in five. On October 30, 2021, the Defenders lost to Midland at home by scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-27, 15-13. Alli Timmermans had 12 kills and Jessi Franken recorded 10 while Raszler accounted for 26 assists and Campbell Marshall had 17.  Franken had ten block assists and two solo blocks with Corrina Timmermans and Erica Bousema each getting 14 digs.
