Blake Hansen netted a career-high four goals in leading Dordt University to a 4-1 win over the University of Jamestown in a GPAC match played tonight at the Defenders Soccer Complex.
The Defenders extend their unbeaten streak to 11 and improve to 5-0-4 in the conference, 7-2-6 overall. They are one of two unbeaten teams left in the GPAC (Hastings).
Scoreless until the sixth minute, Hansen netted three goals over the next 5:30 to give his team a 3-0 lead. Hansen scored his first goal when he received a long pass from
Nathan Wanninger and touched it past Jamestown goalie Myles Ragar. The junior scored his second goal on a rebound off the keeper, once again assisted by Wanninger. Hansen secured his hat trick when he received a through pass by
Phil Appelt and put a left-footed shot into the far right-hand corner of the goal.
Jamestown netted its only goal during the 27th minute off a shot by Axcele Biteghe to make the score 3-1 at the half.
Hansen scored the Defenders final goal when he intercepted a Jamestown pass, took a dribble and chipped the Jamestown goalie with 39 minutes left to play.
