The Dordt University women's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 2-2 tie against Hastings in a match played this afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt heads into its conference tournament with a 10-6-2 record where they will most likely be the No.5 seed and play on the road for a GPAC quarterfinal on Wednesday night, Nov. 2. (pairings will be announced by the GPAC office later tonight).
Scoreless until the 31st minute, the Defenders struck first when
Karinna Tel received a through ball from
Shayla Van Beek and then beat Hastings goalkeeper Sofie Jackson-Pedersen for a 1-0 lead.
Still 1-0 early in the second half,
Jori Bronner put the Defenders up 2-0 on a goal scored off a cross by Tel at the 56th minute.
Hastings broke through with its first goal 10 minutes later when Dulce Lopez chipped a shot over the out-stretched arms of Defender goalie
Jenna Wright to cut the Dordt lead to one at the 65th minute. Hastings netted the equalizer on an unassisted goal from Dekota Schubert with 13 minutes left.
