RECENTLY

The Defenders lost a 13-10 overtime decision on Saturday, September 24 and had last week off. Dordt and Doan were tied 7-7 at halftime and Dordt led 10-7 until a field goal as time expired sent the game to overtime. Dordt was stopped at the goal line in overtime on fourth down and Doane eventually kicked the game winner. Dordt outgained Doane by a slight 248-223 margin with 172 yards rushing. McDaniel had 73 yards rushing on 18 carries and Connor Dodd had 33 yards on eight carries. Ethan Thomas had four receptions for 30 yards.

Mount Marty traveled to Orange City and lost a 52-8 decision on October 1 after trailing 38-6 at halftime. Mount Marty got a score with 8:06 left in the quarter when Gay completed a 50 yard pass to Trey Hansen and that made the score 14-6 at the time. Mount Marty was outgained 501-193 and gave up 250 yards on the ground and 251 yards in the air.  Mount Marty passed for 161 yards as Gay completed 13-23 passes with two interceptions.  Jonah Miyazawa caught three passes for 78 yards.

THE SERIES

The Defenders were 63-21 winners last season after trailing 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. Dordt answered with 56 unanswered points to secure the win. Tyler Reynolds was 11-16 passing for 166 yards and McDaniel was 7-12 passing for 68 yards. Reynolds also ran for 176 yards and three scores and McDaniel ran 73 yards. Levi Jungling caught 11 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Abe Stoesz and Zade Niklasen each had an interception. Nishigaya had 47 yards on 18 carries and Rex Ryken caught four passes for 111 yards and Jonah Miyazawa caught seven passes for 79 yards in the loss.
