The Dordt Defender men's basketball team lost an 87-72 decision at the hands of Concordia on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Defenders held a 39-31 halftime lead but Concordia outscored Dordt 56-33 in the second half to win its fifth game to start the season.
Concordia started with a 6-0 lead but Dordt worked back and took the lead on a
Luke Rankin basket for a 10-8 lead with four minutes gone in the game. A
Lucas Lorenzen three-point shot extended the lead and Dordt eventually got up 19-10 with 12:13 left in the half. The lead grew to as many as 33-20 before Dordt settled for a 39-31 halftime lead.
Bryce Coppock opened the second half with a basket and Dordt was up 47-40 at the 16:54 mark after Coppock made another basket. Dordt was up by seven again at the 15:39 mark with
Jacob Vis scoring to make it 49-42. From there Concordia outscored Dordt 8-0 to take their first lead since the first half with 13:23 left in the game. Dordt ended its five minute drought with a
Luke Rankin free throw but the momentum had shifted and Dordt never led again and lost the 15 point decision.
