Four Dordt University women's track and field athletes met the qualifying standard in the first meet of the indoor season, the SDSU Invite, held today in Brookings, S.D.
Two Defenders,
Jessica Kampman and Kristine Honomichl, met the auto mark and finished first and second, respectively, in the 3000m. Kampman led from start to finish and posted a school-record time of 10:01, second fastest in the NAIA at this point in the season. Honomichl crossed the finish line in second with a time of 10:19, just over a second faster than the auto mark.
Lucy Borkowski finished fourth (10:41) and gave Dordt three runners in the top five.
Emilee Heynen and
Mika Kooistra both met the provisional standard in the 600m and finished third and fourth, respectively. The duo later teamed with
Shelby Buwalda and
Ayda Den Herder to place third in the 4x400 with a time of 4:00.19.Â
Bethany Ten Haken (mile) and
Anna Herman (400m) also posted top 10 finishes for the Defenders.Â
