Defenders Get Commitment From Scholting

(Thursday, December 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) August Scholting, a senior at Wisner-Pilger High School (Nebraska) has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.  

Scholting is a 6-1, 195 pound defensive end, linebacker and fullback.  He had 599 career rushing yards and averaged 5.7 yards per carry as a senior and averaged 13.4 tackles per game in 2022 and 12.4 in 2021. Scholting totaled 293 tackles during his career and 25 tackles for a loss.  

"I chose to go to Dordt because they have an excellent ag program and they gave me the opportunity to continue playing football," said Scholting.   

August is the son of Andy and Lisa Scholting of Wisner, Nebraska. He plans to study agriculture at Dordt. 

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
