The Dordt Defender women pulled away from a one point halftime lead to secure an 84-63 win over the Midland Warriors in GPAC play and move to 10-0 this season and 5-0 in league play.
The Defenders trailed by five to start the game and were down 17-10 before cutting the lead to 23-19 at the end of the first quarter on a
Bailey Beckman jumper right before the horn. A
Hayden Heimensen three-point shot to start the quarter got Dordt within one and
Karly Gustafson scored a basket to put Dordt up 24-23. Dordt eventually took a 33-27 lead on an
Eliana Kuperus basket off an assist by
Macy Sievers at the 4:59 mark and the Defenders appeared poised to get some breathing room.
Dordt ended up clinging to a 37-36 lead at the end of the half and was dealing with foul trouble as four players had two fouls each including both starting post players.
The Defenders got three straight baskets by
Karly Gustafson to open the second half and led 43-36. Midland rallied to tie the game at 46-46 with 4:12 left but a
Janie Schoonhoven basket at the 3:55 mark put Dordt up for good, 48-46. Midland got back to within 49-48 but Dordt scored 10 of the next 13 points to extend the lead to 59-51. Dordt scored the first basket of the quarter on a
Bailey Beckman three-point shot and the lead was never less than eight the rest of the game as Dordt outscored Midland 25-12 in the final period for the 21-point win.

- Dordt was 30-57 from the field and 9-22 from the three-point arc for 53 and 41 percent respectively.
- The Defenders had a 38-22 rebounding advantage and limited Midland to 21-50 shooting and 7-16 success from the three-point line.
- Karly Gustafson scored 22 points and had five rebounds with two assists.
- Bailey Beckman added 18 points and had three assists and a steal.
- Macy Sievers had nine points with six assists and four steals.
- Janie Schoonhoven had eight points and 11 rebounds with two assists and Faith Van Holland had eight points with five rebounds.
- Hayden Heimensen added seven points and seven rebounds with two assists.
- Dordt is a program best 10-0 to start the season and 5-0 in league play. Midland slides to 2-7 and 0-5.
