The Dordt University men's soccer team defeated Trinity Christian 2-0 in the Defenders home opener played tonight as part of the Pizza Ranch Classic. The Defenders earned their first win of the season, improving to 1-1-1, while the visiting Trolls fall to 0-2-1.Â

Scoreless until the 32nd minute, Defender forward
Blake Hansen received a pass from Javier Moscado and slipped a shot by Trinity Christian goal keeper Giorgos Christodoulou for a 1-0 lead.Â
Dordt added to its lead midway into the second frame when
Tyson Reitsma netted his first career goal during the 78th minute for a 2-0 advantage.
Mitchell Dryden and the Defenders backline of
Arnau Gonzalez,
Nathan Wanninger and
Kaleb Lee made sure the two goal lead stuck as they did not allow Trinity Christian to score.
Dryden made four saves and in earning his first career shutout.
Dordt returns to its home pitch on Saturday, Sept.3 for a match against Ottawa (Kan.), beginning at 4pm.Â
