The Dordt Defenders couldn't keep up with the Concordia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon and lost a 3-0 match decision in GPAC volleyball play by set scores of 25-21, 25-17, 25-17,
Concordia was in control most of the match, using early runs to their advantage to build substantial leads the Defenders had trouble denting.Â
The Defenders trailed Concordia 14-8 in the first set and battled back to as close as three on three separate occasions late before falling 25-21. The Bulldogs controlled set two from start to finish in winning 25-17 and turned a 5-4 deficit into a 10-7 lead and Dordt got no closer than two the rest of the set for a 25-17 final.
THE NUMBERS
- Concordia had a 52-38 kills advantage and took advantage of a .345 kill efficiency while Dordt had a .248 kill efficiency.
- Concordia had a 5-4 points off of blocks advantage and a 2-1 ace serves edge.
- Allison Timmermans had nine kills and Corrina Timmermans had eight while Danielle Vande Voort and Grace Lazngemeier each had six kills.
- Megan Raszler and Sophie Johnson had 18 and 17 assists each and Makenna Kooima and Madison Vis both had 10 digs.
- Camryn Opfer had 14 kills and Gabi Nordaker 11 for the Bulldogs.
- Dordt is 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the league while Concordia is 14-1 overall and 5-1 in the GPAC.
