(Wednesday, January 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Emma Stubkjaer, a senior at Sioux Falls Lutheran High School (South Dakota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.
"Emma is an all-around athlete that will bring so much versatility to our program. She is tough and gritty and works incredibly hard every day in the gym. I'm excited for the many ways Emma will impact our culture and team!" said Dordt volleyball coach Jacki Smith.
Stubkjaer averaged over three kills and three digs per set and totaled 99 ace serves over the course of 142 sets during her senior season. In 2021 Stubkjaer put down nearly four kills per set and averaged two digs per contest. She's listed as a 5-6 outside hitter. Stubkjaer was also selected to compete in the South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Association all-star match played in December.
"Coming to Dordt allows me to expand my journey in faith and grow it with my peers around me. I was given the opportunity to play a sport I have a deep passion for, and love was a big factor in deciding on a college. When I talked to the professors, they made me feel like I really belong, and I could tell they truly care about each individual student. All the students were kind to each other and that is an environment I want to be a part of when I leave high school. I am very excited for next year and can't wait to see what college life brings," said Stubkjaer.
Emma is the daughter of James and Michelle Stubkjaer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She plans to study exercise science at Dordt.
