The Dordt Defender women's basketball team took the suspense out of its game with the College of Saint Mary on Thursday night in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dordt scored the first seven points of the game on two buckets by
Janie Schoonhoven and a three-point shot by
Bailey Beckman. The Flames cut the lead to five on two occasions but Dordt had an answer with a 5-0 run to finish the first quarter with a 18-8 lead.
A Beckman basket followed by two Flames' baskets made it 20-12 with 8:56 left in the half. The Flames wouldn't score again until the 1:34 mark on a three-point basket. Meanwhile, the Defenders ran off an 18-0 streak to lead 38-12 and Dordt was up 41-15 to end the half.
An 8-0 run by the Defenders pushed Dordt up 49-15 and the Flames were unable to keep pace in falling 81-46.

- Dordt was 28-76 from the field and 12-27 from the three-point line. The Flames were 16-52 from the field and 4-17 from the three-point line.
- Dordt converted 13-19 free throws and had a 50-35 rebounding advantage and forced 22 turnovers.
- Janie Schoonhoven had 20 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Karley Gustafson had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and four assists with three steals.
- Bailey Beckman scored 13 and Macey Nielson was 3-4 from the arc for nine points.
- Macy Sievers had eight rebounds, three assists and four steals.
- Dordt is 18-1 overall and 12-1 in the GPAC and will host Midland on Saturday.
- The Flames are 5-14 overall and 2-11 in the league.
