A fast start to each half led to a 102-64 win on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center for the Dordt Defenders over Midland in men's basketball play.
Dordt scored on its first seven possessions to lead 14-4 but the Warriors responded with a 7-0 run and trailed 14-11 at the 14:36 mark of the half.
Jackson Louscher scored off a
Luke Rankin assist to stop the run and the teams exchanged baskets. A Rankin three-point shot ignited a 10-0 run that Louscher capped with his third field goal of the game.
Another 11-0 run later in the half put Dordt up 43-20 and the Defenders were up 53-28 at halftime.
A 30-18 advantage to start the second half pushed the lead to 83-46 for the Defenders and the hosts went on to win 102-64 in the second meeting of the two GPAC teams this season.
THE NUMBERS
- Dordt was 39-64 from the field and 9-23 from the arc with 15-19 success from the free throw line.
- Midland was limited to 24-66 field goal shooting and 8-27 from the three-point line and the Warriors made 8-16 free throws.
- Dordt had a 44-31 rebounding edge and Midland turned the ball over 13 times.
- Cade Bleeker had 20 points and converted 4-6 three-point shots and he had six rebounds.
- Luke Rankin handed out nine assists and had seven points and Dawson Feenstra scored 11.
- The Defenders are now 16-4 overall and 8-4 in the conference while Midland is 8-13 overall and 2-11 in the GPAC.
