HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team had little trouble on Thursday night in earning its first win of the season both overall and in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Defenders used a balanced attack in set one for a 25-10 win and then used Robert Piekarz's serving in set two for a 25-5 win.

In the 25-5 win Piekarz started to serve with a 3-2 lead and didn't leave the service line until he was subbed out with the score 21-2.  The Defenders subbed liberally in the third set and managed to pull away late with a 25-15 win, scoring the final two points on a pair of Sam Washington ace serves.
