Shaffer Commits To Defender Volleyball

(Wednesday, January 25; Sioux Center, Iowa) Hannah Shaffer, a senior at Santa Clarita Christian High School (California), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.

"I'm excited to have Hannah join our program. She has been wonderful to get to know throughout the recruiting process and we are looking forward to seeing how she will impact the Defender Volleyball program!" said Dordt volleyball coach Jacki Smith

Shaffer is a 5-10 outside hitter and defensive specialist who averaged four kills per set as a senior while totaling 340 kills and 312 digs. During the 2021 season Shaffer had 344 kills and 341 digs as Santa Clarita went unbeaten and claimed the Heritage League, CIF, Regional and California State championships.  In 2022 her team won the Heritage League while advancing to the CIF and Regional semifinals and the State quarterfinals. Shaffer earned Heritage League co-mvp honors and all-CIF honors during both her junior and senior seasons.

"I chose to attend Dordt because I wanted to go to a school that would allow me to grow in my faith as well as have the ability to play volleyball as I continue my academic journey. Most importantly, I want college to be a place where I grow in my knowledge and desire for God, build healthy biblical habits and make long lasting relationships. I believe Dordt University and the volleyball program will be me just that," said Shaffer.

Hannah is the daughter of Brian and Pauline Shaffer. She plans to study business administration at Dordt.
