The Defenders defeated the Jimmies by a score of 4-0 in a contest in Jamestown, North Dakota on Wednesday night.
The Defenders were without coach Eric Bourdo this evening but that didn't stop the Defenders from putting together a great offensive performance. This was the Defender's first road win against Jamestown since the 2011 season and the Defender's fourth shutout against the Jimmies. This matches the highest number of goals scored by the Defenders against Jamestown. Tied with last year's matchup where the defeated the Jimmies 4-1 at home.
Defender's captain, Blake Hansen, opened the scoring in the 19th minute where he was assisted by the Defender's other captain, Kaleb Lee. The ball was sent into the box off a free kick from 40 yards out. The ball bounced around the box and a couple Defenders had a chance at it but Blake Hansen put in the back of the net to go up 1-0.
Tyson Reitsma scored the second of the game in the 42nd minute off a one-time pass from Jacob Narkis that found a sprinting Reitsma in open field with a one-on-one with Jamestown goalkeeper, Charlie Clark, where Reitsma finished with a one-time shot. The Defenders took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Marco Laenen put the Defenders up by three in the 59th minute off a cross from Nolan Karel that left him with an open net eight yards from goal.Â
Marco Laenen scored again in the 77th minute to go up 4-0. Laenen received a pass from Javier Moscardo and made a move around a Jimmies' Defender to finish in the side netting at the back post.
By the numbers:

- The Jimmies put up 17 shots, 14 on goal
- Mitchell Dryden (5-3-1) finished with 14 saves and a shutout
- Charlie Clark finished with two saves and four goals conceded

The Defenders will improve to 7-5-3 overall and 4-3-1 in GPAC play. They will host the Doane Tigers on Saturday, October 21 at home in Sioux Center.
