FINAL
Dordt defeats Midland 88-78
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender men's basketball team won its second game in as many tries with a 10-point win over Midland at home on Saturday, November 18 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders had to fight off two Midland rallies from double digit deficits to secure their seventh win of the season. Dordt was up 13-11 five minutes into the game when a
Jackson Louscher basket ignited an eventual 10-0 run that was capped by a
Connor Millikan basket with 11:58 left in the first half. Midland controlled the next six minutes and rallied to take a 33-27 lead with 5:26 remaining.
Louscher again got a basket to stop the momentum and
Ty Van Essen's three-point basket with 2:56 left in the half tied the game at 40-40.
Dordt outscored Midland 10-5 over the final minutes of the half and took a 50-45 lead into the intermission. The Defenders controlled the early minutes of the second half and had a 12-point advantage after a pair of
Connor Millikan free throws for a 71-59 margin but Midland rallied again to get within 75-74.
Jake Hargens made a free throw and with 3:33 left in the game
Luke Rankin got free for a lay-up for a 78-74 lead and two
Bryce Coppock free throws put Dordt up by six. With 1:17 Coppock buried a 17-foot pull up jumper and the Defenders went on to win 88-78.
