The Dordt Defenders bounced back from their first loss of the 2023 season with a 9-2 win over Central Christian (Kansas) on Saturday afternoon, February 18 in Winfield, Kansas.
Dordt scored two in the first and two in the second for a 4-0 lead and then added a run in the fifth on a
Nolan Christianson single after the Tigers had cut the lead to 4-1 with a fourth inning run. Four runs in the sixth inning gave Dordt breathing room with
Dylan Stanley and
Trevor Jackson both getting extra base hits. Central Christian did get on in the sixth inning for the 9-2 final.
THE NUMBERS
- Dordt's Nolan Christianson was 2-3 with a run batted in and Ben Baker was 2-3 with two runs scored and a pair of singles. Baker also had a base on balls.
- Trevor Jackson was 2-3 with a single and triple with a run batted in.
- Matthew Ramstead was the starter and went five innings with three walks and four strikeouts and he earned the win.
- Charlie Hennessy and Jae Kim both worked in relief with Kim striking out two and he allowed one hit.
- Dordt is now 6-1 this season and will travel to face Benedictine next weekend in a pair of doubleheaders.
