(Wednesday, March 1; Sioux Center, Iowa) Myra Carlson, a senior at Ankeny High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.
"We are so excited to have Myra join our program! She brings great versatility and experience playing for a high level team. She has a high ceiling to develop into a dominant presence at the net. I'm excited to see how she grows and develops in her faith and as a volleyball player over the next four years," said Dordt volleyball coach Jacki Smith.
Carlson is a 5-11 middle blocker and right side hitter who averaged 1.9 kills per set and she had a .264 kill efficiency in 2022 as Ankeny qualified for the Class 5A state tournament.
"I chose Dordt because it felt like home. My relationship with Coach Smith and the Christian atmosphere were both huge factors in my decision," said Carlson.
Myra is the daughter of Nicky and Brandt Carlson of Ankeny, Iowa. She plans to study business at Dordt.
