The Dordt Defender baseball team withstood a comeback by the host Warner Royals and earned a 6-5 win to end their week-long Florida trip.
Dordt got a run in the first on an
Ethan Hoogesteger single that got
Kaden Davis in. Davis knocked a homerun, his fourth of the season, for a 3-0 lead with
Ben Baker on base. Hoogesteger singled in the fifth to push
Dylan Stanley across and th the 4-0 lead held until the top of the eight  when Hoogesteger scored on a Baker single. Stanley ended the Dordt scoring with a single that got Baker across for a 6-0 lead.
Warner rallied with five in the eighth inning and the hosts got the bases loaded before
Ty Neugebauer coaxed a fly ball out for the save and the last out of the game.
THE NUMBERS
- Kaden Davis was 2-3 with two runs scored and two batted in with a homerun and a single.
- Ethan Hoogesteger had two singles with a run scored and two runs batted in and Dylan Stanley and Ben Baker each had a run batted in and Baker scored twice.
- Nick Yeager pitched seven-plus innings with five hits allowed and one run-it was unearned. He struck out eight with two walks issued. Â Yeager is now 3-1.
- Ty Neugebauer got the final out and faced two batters to earn the save.
