(Tuesday, May 9; Sioux Center, Iowa) Beau Callahan, a senior at Elkin High School (North Carolina), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender baseball program.
Callahan is a lefthanded pitcher and centerfielder and has a person best 15 strikeouts in a game and competed for the U.S.A. Prime Club team.
"Dordt has a top engineering program. It's one of only a few Christian colleges that offers an ABET accredited engineering program. The baseball program is top notch from coaches to the facilities. When I arrived at Dordt it felt like home," said Callahan.
Beau is the son of Jay and Tammy Callahan of Elkin, North Carolina. He plans to study engineering.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
