(Wednesday, May 31; Sioux Center, Iowa) Josh Tiersma, a senior at Nampa Christian High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender baseball program.
Tiersma batted .377 this season after batting .500 as a junior and he has struck out 136 batters in three seasons. Tiersma knocked in 60 runs the last two seasons with 40 stolen bases and posted a 1.41 earned run average. He has been a part of two state title winning teams, and he was a three-time all-conference honoree and claimed first-team all-state accolades.
"I chose Dordt because of the culture. When I visited my brothers, I felt like I was welcomed by the baseball guys when I first stepped on campus. Both of my brothers will be graduating from Dordt and being part of a legacy is something special. I am excited to be on campus," said Tiersma.
Josh is the son of Lynn and Kim Tiersma of Nampa, Idaho. He plans to study business administration.
