Defenders Shutout in Loss to Concordia

The Defenders played the Concordia (NE) Bulldogs to a 4-0 loss on Wednesday night in Seward.

Dordt found themselves down early after a goal was scored in the 6th minute. Bulldog midfielder, Savannah Andrews, gave a pass down the sideline where she laid it off to second-year forward, Kierstynn Garner, who finished it past Jenna Wright on the back post.

Concordia found the back of the net again in the 29th minute on a goal by Savannah Andrews. Andrews received a pass at the top of the 18-yard box from Garner and she took a one-time shot that found the upper corner of the back post for their second goal of the game.

The Defenders went into halftime down, 2-0.

Concordia scored their third in the 65th minute off a corner kick that came into the 6-yard box. Jenna Wright tried to punch it out but couldn't get enough on it while it hung up in the air and was eventually put on frame by Bulldog defender, Hannah Kile.

Garner scored Concordia's fourth goal and her second of the game. She received a pass from midfielder, Elena Ruiz, and had a breakaway opportunity. Ganer's initial shot was saved by Wright but she got her own rebound and finished it with her left foot to the back post.

The Defenders' first opportunity came off a free kick in the 9th minute by Karinna Tel, but she sent it wide right. Their best opportunity of the game came off a punt from Jenna Wright in the 60th minute that bounced around and found Joslyn Terpstra breaking through the back line but the shot was sent wide right.
