The Dordt University women's soccer team lost to Midland 6-2 in a conference match played this afternoon at the American State Bank Sports Complex in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders dropped their second consecutive match and are 1-2-1 in the GPAC, 3-4-1 overall. Midland pushed its win streak to four and stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 3-0 record, 6-2-1 overall.
Midland raced out to a 3-0 halftime lead behind first period goals by Emma Anderson, Ashley Atkinson and Addison Castellanos. Anderson put the Warriors in front 1-0 with a goal during the ninth minute off a shot from 30 yards out that went over the outstretched arms of Defender goalie
Jenna Wright. Four minutes later, Atkinson netted a goal on a 1-2 combination play with Hanna Schimmer to put Midland up 2-0. Castellanos converted a penalty kick at the 31st minute for Midland's final goal of the first half.
Dordt was outshot in the first half by Midland 8-4.
The Warriors scored a goal early in the second half when Schimmer blasted a shot off an errant pass to go up 4-0 at the 46th minute. Dordt broke through with its first goal on a successful penalty kick by
Ellie Stuart during the 61st minute.

Atkinson put Midland in front 5-1 with her second goal at the 64th minute off another assist from Schimmer. Aminata Lewis followed with the Warriors final goal during the 76th minute. The Defenders closed out the scoring during the 80th minute off a header by
Jolie Schouten on a corner kick from
Joslyn Terpstra.
