Defenders Shoot Past Dakota Wesleyan

FINAL

Dordt def. Dakota Wesleyan 96-83

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defenders never trailed in taking its sixth GPAC win of the season, a 96-83 decision over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night, January 17 in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Dordt pulled away from a 5-5 tie to take a 13-5 lead on three baskets by Lucas Lorenzen, Luke Rankin and Connor Millikan.  After a Dakota Wesleyan timeout the Tigers cut the lead to 15-14.  Dordt extended the lead again, this time to 29-20 with Bryce Coppock shouldering much of the load but that lead dwindled to 33-32 before a Rankin basket at the horn made it 35-32.

Dakota Wesleyan scored the first basket of the second half, a three-point shot, but a 17-9 by Dordt over the next five minutes put the Defenders in control and Wesleyan got as close as seven the rest of the game before free throws helped seal the 13-point Dordt win.
