The Dordt Defenders hosted the Doane Tigers in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) match-up and came away with their second straight victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game started off back and fourth with the Defenders having a 10-9 lead after four minutes of play. However, the Defenders began to pull away a few minutes later, kick started by a 3-pointers from Lucas Lorenzen and Ben Fairclough.
The Defenders would go on a 10-2 run half way through the first half and would begin to run away with it. Lucas Lorenzen would hit a 3-pointer at the 4:27 mark off a Luke Ranking steal that would give the Defenders a commanding 43-21 lead. The Defenders would go into the break with a 53-30 advantage.
The second half would start how the first ended. The Defenders had no problems on offense as they went on a 12-3 run. Dordt saw a lot of good minutes from the bench as they would tally 47 bench points and 17 players would see the floor.Â
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Dordt shot 65.2% from three with 15 shots falling on 23 attempts
- Dordt Leaders:
- Lucas Lorenzen had 20 points with seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal
- Ben Fairclough had 15 points with three blocks while shoot 100 percent from three
- Ty Van Essen scored a career high 17 points and also shooting perfect from distance
- Xavier Van Beek scored a career high 14 points and a perfect 3-3 from three point range
- The Defenders improve to 15-5 overall and 8-4 in GPAC playÂ
