The Dordt men's soccer team lost a close match at home to the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers on a 2-1 decision.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Much of the first half was scoreless as both teams traded chances back and forth. Dakota Wesleyan broke through with 15 seconds left in the first half. Enzao Lira de Paula committed a foul to slow down the attack but Vladislav Burkov put a ball on frame that was mishandled by
Mitchell Dryden that allowed Luis Waschle to score his first of the year. Dordt trailed 1-0 at half.
The second half started very smiliar to the first with both teams trading chances until Dordt broke through in the 75th minute.
Trigve Elkins got the ball near the top of the penalty area before finding
Phil Appelt making a run. Appelt took a touch and then placed a perfect back post ball to find
Nolan Karel unmarked in the 6-yard box to score the equalizer.
The momentum that Dordt gained on that goal was quickly gone as Colton Douglas scored in the 77th minute after Venas Stani fought for the ball near the goal line and put in a cross.Â
Dordt had many chances but goalkeeper, Zackary Stephens, came away with a few huge saves that proved to be the difference.

Dordt's record falls to 6-7-3 overall and 4-3-2 in GPAC play. Dordt will play its final game of the regular season on October 30 against Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa.
