tieThe Dordt Defenders played the Saint Louis Billikens to a 2-2 tie in Webster Groves, Missouri on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Defenders took the lead first with 9:30 left in the first period as Zach Espenson scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Tristan Schlechter and Brady Espenson. The Billikens put the equalizer in with 4:03 left in the first period.
Despite multiple power plays, neither team was able to take the lead in the second period.Â
With 16:22 left in the third period, Griffen Lennes scored an unassisted goal that gave the Defenders a 2-1 lead. However, with just 50 seconds left in the period, Saint Louis scored the equalizer to send it to overtime.Â
Neither team scored in overtime and the game ended in a tie.
By the numbers:
The Defenders are now 4-0-1 on the season and will finish out their road trip against Maryville on Saturday, October 5.
